I have a Sergeant, it is my second - I had one on my '04 as well. I've ridden other bikes with Corbins, and they seemed stiffer. I assume since you're asking for input on the Corbin and Sergeant seats that one of the custom seats (RDL) is out of your price range.

I've got both and don't like either more than stock.

If by "long ride" you mean <250 miles, save your money and keep the stock seat.

However, if you're talking 500+ miles at a stint, then invest in a Russel or
similar seat. Nothing short of a full on custom will do.

I've only used the stock for about 30k and Corbin for maybe 57K. I like Corbin better. Neither are great for me. Corbin fits butt better. Stock was softer and higher . I'm 5'6 so lower was a little better.

I'd go Sargent over Corbin. I've had both.

I just bought a Sargent seat. The only thing I did not go with Day Ling is the way it looks....

I can't see it while riding that long day in the saddle that leaves me no pain.

As much as I agree with you about the looks, you're probably doing yourself a disservice by avoiding a RDL for vanity. Wheaties is right that you can't see it when you ride, but I still understand the "curb appeal" thing.

I tried a Sergeant and didn't like it much. The scoop in the seat was funny. I only rode it around town, so I never put any real miles or time on it. Maybe it would have been great after a whole day. What the Hell do I know...I've ridden 1400 mile days in the stock seat.

No matter what we think, the consensus is for any type of distance and real comfort, the RDL is the way to go. The large majority of FJR asses agree...wait, maybe that came out wrong...

Good choice, the Day Long is way up there in comfort.
You can't go wrong with either Sargent or Corbin. Both are much better than the stock seat but a cut below the Day Long. I went Corbin and don't regret it. You have to ride it at least a 1000 miles before you start appreciating it. On the plus side, you don't have to send your seat to have it converted.

I've had Corbin on all my bikes but now I'm looking at the day long.
