When I bought the leftover brand new 2015A in Elgin, IL a few years ago I paid $9950. (7 months later it was totaled and the insurance paid me $13.5...) Not a good way to make money though..

48 month YES for under $500.
FJRs for barely over their cost.
Cert of Origin and Sale receipt are all you need to then go home and pay ONLY the fees your state requires and avoids all those dealership fee extras that some use to jack final price up.

When I bought my '15 I worked two deals, the first deal was for the '15 which was very good, then a second deal was for my 120k mile '04. I was offered straight up virtually $5k for it, much, much more than what it was worth at retail. I could have taken the deal as cash or put it against my '15, which I did. I didn't bother to negotiate because the offer was so ridiculously good. I paid less for the new '15ES than what I paid for my new '04 ABS.
I was offered YES for ~$600 which I declined. Jennifer asked me why I declined, so I told her I was going to purchase it from D&H for ~$300. She told me that they can't sell YES for that price. She called D&H and confirmed that indeed they will sell YES for that price. Jennifer took a deep breath, then sold me YES matching the D&H price. Jennifer said that finance was going to absolutely hate my deal. When we sat down with the finance person she blew out a big breath and the first words out of her mouth were 'Oh, I hate this deal'.

2006 used, with 3K on the clock in 08 - about $7200, Wisconsin ACE Motorsports Kenosha (out of business).
2018 new, purchased September 2019 - $12193.76 OTD, Wisconsin Fuel Power Sports (still in operation).
Got my YES warranty from D&H Cycles over the phone $389.
I've shopped for these for years and with very little research you can almost always find a 1 year hold over right near $11K, then add TT&L and they are still a great bargain compared to buying current model year.

Same here. No way I am paying retail on a big ticket item like this. Especially if these are leftovers from a year and more.
Btw, there was not an FJR to be seen at my local Yamaha dealer on Monday. None, no leftovers, no 20s or 21s.
I often have found myself when I was not looking, nor did that discovery take place where I thought it would!

Ordered my 06 with $600 down in Aug. 05. Delivered June 06, for $11,000 OTD.
Bought my 2015 ES used with 12k miles for $8,800. With Vstream screen, Sargent seats, Helibridge, and T-Rex guards.

My 2006 FJR (purchased used) was totaled (not my fault!) in early October 2014. I started shopping for leftover 2012 models. I wanted Cobalt Blue paint and silver wheels, same as my '06. A 2012 was the only choice for me. In mid-October I found three leftover '12s at Cycle Springs Powersports in Clearwater FL. Two were 49-state bikes and the third had CA emissions plumbing. I asked for their best price on the two 49-state models (my buddy wanted the other one), and they quoted $10534 OTD. That seemed like a good price, so I made a deposit over the phone. I shipped my riding gear and some tools to the dealer two weeks later and flew to Tampa to sign the paperwork and take delivery.
I took the scenic route back to Southern California. I crossed GA into TN, did the 1st oil change in a parking lot at Etowah TN. Then across TN, clipped the corner of AL on Natchez Trace, then clipped the northeast corner of MS (just so I can say I've ridden in AL and MS), across AR, and then a one day visit with Mom in TX. That was also a good place to register the bike since CA doesn't allow out-of-state vehicles until they have 7500 miles on them. Screw that...I rode with TX plates until a year later, and then the bike had well over 7500 miles on it. With a new plate installed, it was a long ride across TX, NM, and AZ to get home...3500 miles. That was a fun way to buy a new bike.
