Is Yamaha the only source for factory service manuals?

Post by bungie4 »

Asked my local dealer for a price on the factory service manual for my '13.

YEOUCH! Like $175 Cdn.

Are they the only source? I checked Helm, but they don't handle Yammie.

Haynes UK has a new 2001 to 2013 manual which allegedly contains all the ABS stuff, AE, as well as all the new electronic features of the '13. I dunno how they could stuff it all in one manual (and do a good job).

You know what the cheapest damn part on a Yamaha FJR 1300 is? That would be the FECKING OWNER, eh! Papa Chuy Viejo ordered the Haynes Manual last Friday online from Amazon for $38.80 including shipping costs but it will not arrive until December, I believe that is because Fairlaner's drunken Uncle Cyril works at the London Post Office. jes' sayin' and nuff said!

Ya, but they are written in a foreign language that only a few can read. It uses phrases like torque to yield, lateral run-out, linear compensated pressure sensor, slip angle, Hall effect, grade 8 bolts and lithium soap grease.

Alan it would not matter to BikerGeek99, to Andy if it is mechanical it might as well be in Greek anyway! jes' sayin' and nuff said!

Given the choice, I would order the Haynes manual. I have had some for previously owned vehicles/motorcycles, and they were great. I already have a Yamaha manual for my '07, but I may just swing the other $35 for the new Haynes.

Take Off eh Dork Boi, your question was "is Yamaha the only source for a factory service manual?" So yes jerkoff, if you want a factory service manual you will have to go to Yamaha.

Hoser, if a Haynes service manual will fulfill your carnal needs and wanton desires then buy one for less than $40 bucks from Amazon or Ebay shipped to your door in the Great White Frozen North!

Jesu Cristo this has been tougher than teaching HotRodZilla how to open up a can of chili con carne, that project took an entire afternoon! If you wait a month, I will write a report on the Haynes!

Why bungie, you are turning into an engineer 'cause everyone knows that engineering humor is an oxymoron. Say, have you heard the one about three engineers in a car going for a drive...
