I replaced all our smoke detectors with the ten year battery style 9 months ago. After 6 months the one in our master bedroom began randomly beeping. We complained to First Alert and they sent us a new one. Now after 3 months the new one brgan randomly beeping. Cannot figure out why....

Motorcycle oils and passenger car oils are very similar, with the exception of a couple of areas that are key to motorcycle operation. The first area concerns common sumps, or the use of motor oil, to lubricate and cool the transmission. As you know, in a passenger car the transmission is lubricated by an ATF fluid, which has frictional properties required for transmission operation. In a motorcycle, where the motor oil may lubricate the transmission, a motor oil that does not have the same level of friction modification (for fuel economy) of a typical passenger car motor oil will provide better transmission performance in terms of transmission lock-up and slippage. So motorcycle motor oil does not contain the friction modifiers of a passenger car motor oil. The second area of concern for motorcycle motor oils is that they tend to shear (break down viscosity) more quickly than a typical passenger car. Mobil 1 motorcycle oils are designed to provide exceptional protection against viscosity loss.

I used Rotella T6 10w40 in my 15 and did not like the shifting. Seemed kind of notchy. I switched to Mobil 1 Racing 4T, 10w40. Immediately noticed an improvement and smoothness in the shifting. I am sold on it, regardless of cost.

I started using it and it added 25 HP to the bike and increased my mileage to over 50 mpg. Shes really a screamer now now and I totally recommend it!

I used the Rotella T6 5W40 synthetic for something like 185,000 miles in my first '07 FJR and (so far) 60,000 miles or so in the current one. Certainly can't fault it for engine longevity but can't really speak about shifting differences - haven't really used anything else for comparison. I have seen the Mobil 1 around for a long time but I can't bring myself to paying four times what the T6 costs me - I buy the Rotella in a 5 gallon pail.
I don't think I have seen that Castrol fully synthetic MC oil around here. Maybe I'll have a closer look for it...

I've been running the non-moto Mobil 1 15W-50 for many years in three different bikes; 58000 miles on the YZF-600, 29000 miles on FJR #1, and 50000 miles so far on FJR #2. Since I live in the desert with high ambient temps, I figure the heavier oil can't hurt. They always shift smoothly and quietly, never any clutch slip. I change the oil at 4000 mi on the YZF and 5000 mi on the FJR.
The best part of M1 15W-50 is the 5 quart jug at Walmart for around $23. It's tough to beat the $4.60/qt price for synthetic oil.

I normally use yamalube. If it’s time for an oil change and I don’t have any yamalube, I use the mobile one 4T 10w40.

My Honda shifts smother when I use the Honda GN4. Any other oil and its a louder clank and harder shift. So I just stuck with the GN4.
When I got the FJR I just started using yamalube and never tried anything else.

Have used the Mobil Racing 4T in the AE for a few years now. Don’t really know about the bike but it makes me feel benign.

Without technical or psychic analysis, T-6 has been very good to me.
Used to get 55 gallons of Valvoline from my dad's friend, went in anything with a spark plug.
No internal combustion engines died a fiery death.
