headlights
Hi,
One of my headlights is out on low beam (both work on high beam). I can't remember: Are both headlights supposed to be on on low beam?

Re: headlights
Have fun replacing them, it's a tight squeeze in there. You might as well do both at the same time and keep the one that works as a road spare.

Re: headlights
Maybe I have small hands, but I have never had a problem replacing them. Is the second gen (and I guess 3rd now) that much different than my first gen??? As for replacing them both, that's great advice, if one has failed due to life you can expect the other to be on the edge of failure.0face wrote:Have fun replacing them, it's a tight squeeze in there. Re: headlights
I've had both go at the same time , 30,000k later one blow and the next within 1,000 k later, from experience pays to do both at the same time 15min all up to change them out

Re: headlights
The Gen II is a lot tighter than the Gen I's. I've not had to replace any yet.

I was able to get my meat paws in there to do it.
Just expect scratched up arms (or get the wife to do it)

Re: headlights
The right one is easier than the left, but Spencer is right. Expect to get scatched up unless you have girl hands. The bulbs themselves aren't bad. It is getting that damn boot back on correctly that is a pain. If you don't and ride in rain you will be replacing them again soon!

Re: headlights
I wear a pair of mechanics gloves when I do mine, no problems.

Re: headlights
I have them too, but I feel they just add more bulk and take away the feel, because a lot of what you do you can't see. If that works, though, great. I do get scratched up!clocklaw wrote:I wear a pair of mechanics gloves when I do mine, no problems.

Re: headlights
Bob, surely you jest, lol. The right bulb is FAR harder to get to than the left (Gen II). I decided to go ahead and replace the right one today while installing a new battery (the left bulb went out a little more than a month ago). The thing with the right side is that the rubber cap is pretty much held in place on its right side by part of the front sub-assembly and a wire bundle, not to mention a spider, temp sensor, and a few relays interfering with access. It takes a great deal of swearing about the Yamaha designer to work it off. The left side was a cake walk in comparison.Intech wrote:The right one is easier than the left...

Re: headlights
I put new bulbs in last month. The right was less of a problem for me also.

Re: headlights
Looks like we have come down to a conclusion then....guys, when you plan to replace the headlights, get a left handed (or right handed) friend to help....lefty does the right and righty does the left...piece of cake!Burnspot wrote:Heh, maybe so. Re: headlights
If my headlights go out again I think I will just buy a 2013 and sell the '07 "as-is"!
