Pillion Heated gear plug - mounting ideas

I'm looking for ideas on a mounting location for a plug for a passenger's heated jacket liner.

My rider plug is set up so it comes out between the tank and seat; I can store it under the seat when I don't need it. I can get on and off the bike with it plugged in, or plug it in once I'm on.

I'm looking for ideas for a plug for the back seat. I don't think having enough slack for her to plug in, then get on is reasonable. Realistically, it would turn into a trip hazard. An outlet down under the side panel would not be accessible from the back seat.

Suggestions and pictures welcome...

My passenger has a lead under the seat from the powerstrip. When she needs heat, we move the lead to come up in front of her seat and behind my seat. She attaches her controller to that after she gets on.

Agree with Wheaton. On my tail bag, I bring the straps up between the front and rear seat. I’d do the same thing for the power lead.

Edit, OK wait... I bought some small coax power sockets once, can drill a 3/8" hole and mount it in the panel... just don't know how that could be hidden anywhere and still be easy to plug in. All I ever did in the past is what's been said above.

I put one of these on each side.



However, I get the trip hazard. If you have the givi 357 rack, I don’t see why you couldn’t use an Adel clamp to instal this on the givi rack tubes up around the top box.

Agree with the guys here. Just let it stick out a little from the underneath of the back seat. The one Spawn has been using stick out about 3 inches from the clutch side of the bike. She can plug her jacket in from on the bike as well as off and swing her leg over as long as the top box is not there. I just tuck it under the seat when the women are not riding with.

I rarely disagree with Ray, but I wouldn’t drill into any panels and put a connection in there. Seems like a place to scratch or if K forgets a s gets off the bike, it could pull at a weird angle and break. Maybe Ray was imagining something different, but drilling panels is not needed.

I did like Philjet09. Had a powerlet mounted under the muffler hanger. Worked well for me, although didn't use it much.

My wire sits under my seat when not in use. When needed, I just pull it out the between the seat and side panel a few inches (under my thigh). Have one of those springy cord extensions like on a telephone cord. Wife gets on, I hand her the springy cord and she plugs in. If we both need the heat I have a splitter and a little 6 inch wire extension, but the spring cord thing works really well. I think I'll try the lead coming from between the seats when I don't need it also though as mentioned above.

Right now the flying lead for the heated gear lives under the pillion seat until needed. I pull it out and take one loop around the bag handle and leave ~3-4" loose. Pillion almost always forgets to unplug before getting off so my setup lets her gear easily unplug without causing strain on the connectors or wires.
