I decided to lock up my Pelican

Post by Name Etc. »

This weekend I had phones, wive's purse, wallet, Camera, iPad.... all in the Storm Case and didn't like walking away from it. So I decided to add the extra lock that came with bike to try to lock up the Pelican using the same keys. I had to machine a bushing to go over lock because it was designed for that plastic cylinder thing on the saddle bags and I assume the Yamaha Top case.
I held my breath, drilled a Giant hole in the storm case... Used 1-1/2 x 1-1/2 inch aluminum angle for the Lid Lock piece, cut off to fit behind the lock. It turned out really well. I like it. Hasp has two screws in it now. that was just during trial...
Used waterproof Pop Rivets to hold the lid piece on. all in all a good mod for me. Locks down pretty tight. Now go home and loctite the screws on the lock.... or you will lose the lock.

Very Nice, and now if you lock your keys in, you can drill out the rivets. :-)

for my pelican, which has the same two outboard lock holes, i use the brass master locks (standard size shank) where you set your own 4 digit code.

no key needed, plus resists prying from the edges.

I have purchased 4 locks for that damn thing. I keep getting stuff out, then losing them. Most of them are on a road in the middle of nowhere,,, somewhere.
