Wow. You are a much better man than me.
PR2 fronts STILL suck though. PR2 fronts are the definition of a front tire trapezoidal wear. They lessened my enjoyment of the latter half of my 2011 Kali trip.

Well shit - yesterday on my phone I went through the rebate website and it said $40.00 on a set of RS3s. Now today, I can't find it.

Pants provided some good numbers os RS3's vs. PR4's.
After using RS3's I went back to a PR4. My butt told me the PR4 is much more supple.

Most dual compound fronts will have that stripe down the middle if you're riding to wear the sides off. Good for long trips, moreso if you slab. I'm not a fan of PR anything fronts, tread pattern not the best. If you're riding is combo road and twisties, dual compound will wear evenly. Mostly curves and twisties, maybe go single compound.

I agree with raYzerman on the PR front tires - at least the PR2 and PR3 I have tried (no experience with PR4 or Road5 yet). OK initially but hated them after about mid-life.
Interesting on the differing experiences on front tire wear with the car tire in the rear. My experience was with two different rear tires and maybe 6-7 fronts? - over 50,000 miles. Dual compound fronts from different manufacturers, generally 40-42 psi, variety of roads and I found they didn't last quite as long and I was hating the wear pattern earlier. Might do better with single compound front.
I have been moderately happy with the Dunlop RoadSmarts for now but I think I will try a set of the Road5 before the end of this coming season.

I used to Vee the shit out of my fronts. Big time. I stopped braking in turns. Magically, fronts started taking a much longer time to wear out.

Found this Michelin Road 5 diagram at the Yamaha dealer yesterday:
Compare it with this diagram about the Pilot Road 4:
The most interesting differences to me were the "percent grooved tread area" for each front tire, and that there's no tread or compound differences between regular and GT models.
No clue about the different colors for tread compounds. (ie, do rear tires have completely different rubber compounds than front tires?)

I'm a little perplexed by those diagrams.
It's saying that the 5 GT has more of the harder compound, but in each case (4 and 5), there is no difference in the percentages of Hard v/s soft between the non-GT version and the GT version?

I don't believe the difference in the GT and regular is in the tread rubber material, but is in the belt/stiffness of the sidewall.
Since there is no difference in carrying capacity, I typically do not use the stiffer sidewall versions. Have felt no ill effects over 175k miles...

At the rate I've been piling on the mileage, that RS3 i put on last fall the day before i left for Yosemite and eom, i figure they ought to last me until 2023.

I just started a set, so far mostly commuting but played a little bit in some twisties by the house and really like the feel of these tires. I can also report they are great in the rain, rode home the other night in a massive down pour and really pushed them and felt great. I hope they last...

I have been putting many miles on my R5's and do not think I have ever put a better tire on any of the bikes I have owned. Here is a video from Revzilla that picks them as their #1 Sport Touring Tire. They discuss that these tires due to their longer wear will most likely save you $$ with more time between changes.

I’ve already been through a set. For the conditions I put them in, mileage was about equal to my PR4GT average. PR4GT’s last longer, for me, than anything else I’ve tried until these.
I prefer the 5GT because I’ve never had a tire that felt quite as poised all the way through its’ life. YMMV.

I get the impression the compounds are similar to the PR4's, so all good with me... stickier better than hard (mileage) to me. Too bad they cost so much.
