Re: The Official 2021 Calendar Contest
My 3 calendars arrived today. Yeah, I was late to the party. I just hung one in the office here at home and I will be bringing one to work with me tonight for my office there. The third one goes to Pop, I will deliver it tomorrow.
Great looking calendar, I appreciate all the work that goes into organizing the contest and I appreciate all of the great photos. With any luck I will get a few pics in 2021. If I don't at least I will get to enjoy all of your pics.

Thank you, Mark.
That was a cell phone picture. But the light was right. I took about 20 to get the one I liked. Poolboy, Boozer, and Natehawk were nice enough to wait for me to get the shot.

It's still one of those colors that can't really be captured in photos and must be seen in person in sunlight. I remember seeing one on display at the MotoGP races at COTA and thinking "Wow, now I see what all the fuss is about."wheatonFJR wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 6:38 pm Miss January looks awesome.. Re: The Official 2021 Calendar Contest
I delivered Pop's calendar today and he was thrilled to get it. He looks forward to that calendar now, he probably appreciates it as much as anyone on this forum.
He opened it to see his friend Hppants' superb photo with the cliffs of the Buffalo River in the background and his happiness was a joy to see. Then he got confused because he knew he had posed his FJR for a pic exactly like that one long, long ago but it was his '07. It sort of bothers Pop that he has trouble keeping track of trips and pics and places and dates. I just tell him that means we have taken plenty of great rides. He is hopeful that we will do something photo-worthy this year.

This. It's easier to remember the details of that one trip. Taking trips like you guys do, anyone would get the details confused.

Re: The Official 2021 Calendar Contest
Mine finally showed up. I ordered on December 10th. It was stuck in USPS purgatory apparently for a month. Even with that, I'm still really happy with the way this one turned out. Thanks to everyone for making it a great calendar!

Re: The Official 2021 Calendar Contest
Timmy's came from China and it had to do a 14 day quarantine before being allowed into Michigan. Then it went through Flint and was contaminated by water!
Mine was ordered at the same time as Tim's. It came just before his did. There is a silver lining though..............

Re: The Official 2021 Calendar Contest
A Christmas present for Aunt Kelly (coming from Hawaii) was two weeks late. Then the tracking showed it as 'delivered' on January 2. It actually appeared in our mailbox on January 9. WTF?DesignFlaw06 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 11:56 pm Mine finally showed up. I ordered on December 10th. It was stuck in USPS purgatory apparently for a month. And, sir, while others take the photos, YOU are the one with the initiative, skill, care, and patience to turn them into a work of art.

I showed my dad (the shutter bug) my photo for this month. He thought it was cool of course, but he couldn't help but suggest some photoshopping. Most noteworthy would be to color out the dust that is in the tread of my rear tire. And he suggested some other things. I told him P/S-ing was not allowed in the contest.

Sadly, Pop and I are NOT riding enough right now. It's getting to both of us.Hppants wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 9:56 am

Since I know your father and I respect him greatly, you know this is no insult. He would be correct about Photoshopping the dust off the tire in most circumstances. But for an FJR Calendar he is completely wrong. This just shows the divide between how a FJR Rider thinks and how a Normal Person thinks.
To a true FJR Rider that dust tells us a lot about the pic location and the ride. It tells us you took a big, heavy road bike down a dirt road in search of adventure. It tells me that you were on a twisty road, the tire was hot enough from being pushed hard to get the outside edge of that dual compound tire sticky and that's why the dust was so well embedded into the rubber. The dust on that tire was the second thing I noticed and is my second favorite thing in that pic. It tells me everything I need to know about the ride and the rider before I even looked at the bike.
Riders are not Normal People. Whatever it is that makes us think traveling on something with two wheels is a good idea forever sets us apart. That's why I am always so happy to have the FJR Calendar in my office at work. No matter how miserable my day gets I can look at that calendar and see a Friend, someone that I can identify with and relate to.
