2008 FJR ABS. I noticed my rear brake pedal got soft during the winter storage. The brakes were there, but I had to chase the pedal down too much. Bleed the brakes, right? Yep, did that, first the front (linked) brake, then the rear. There was not a lot of improvement when finished, though. I had noticed some tiny air bubbles in the temporary drain line from the bleeder screws, and it seemed like I was not moving those bubbles very much.
So, instead of simply pumping the brake pedal, when I did the bleeding process again, I tried a quicker way. I pressed down and sidestepped the pedal each time, letting the pedal spring back to the start position as fast as it would, no load. This change caused a much better flow rate from the calipers, and everything went as expected. Now my brake pedal is as firm and up-top as a new bike.
