I put 3 strips of Scotch 33+ electrical tape across the top of my visor for the early mornings going east and the evenings going west. Works just like a car's sun visor, blocking out the sun.

Yeah, I've done that before. However, this was the first gt-air i ever had and I thought the drop down visor was going to work...until it didn't.

It’s a Shoei for the rf1400.

Tested my new photochromic visor. It’s superb. Gets super dark, super fast. They should make these for every helmet.
Would you care to say what brand of visor said shield is?

This one gets dark and returns to clear faster than any other photochromic lens I’ve tried. But I’ve only ridden down to about 38F. It may not work in real cold. Time will tell.

IIRC, Shoei now sells proper tinted visors stateside. As Wheaton noted, they were previously only available from overseas.

I find with the Neotech ll, that I am flipping the internal sun visor up and down throughout the day. Particularly when entering the curvy roads that are shaded. Then you come out into the bright sun, and I have to flip it back down. I had photochromic lenses on my glasses, but did not like how long they took to lighten up when coming inside, especially when cold. Maybe they have improved the products these days. Probably time to look at them again.
This - I have photochromic lenses on my glasses, and when coupled with the photochromatic shield on my helmet it gets really dark when cold.

Several years ago we were headed from Alamosa NM to Alpine AZ in late March. It got dark and cold (mid-30s) both my glasses and my visor were dark from the cold. I had to ride with my shield open to see anything, Kip Walker rode in front and we came real close to a big bull elk that I probably wouldn't have seen if I was in the lead.

I now carry a Pinlock-equipped clear helmet visor when riding in the shoulder seasons in case I get caught out after dark.

Photochromatic Visor + Pinlock + Photochromatic glasses + cold = Dark!

WTF? 38F IS real cold. Hell, it's beyond real cold!

Real cold around these parts is 50 freaking degrees!

Saturday. We rode it. It was the first time this year for Annette - which meant an extended pre-ride, "where is my (insert any number of riding related accessories, like gloves, phone holder, etc.)" and "how does this work" (sena)...

But, on the upside, we had an enjoyable late season ride up into Michigan's thumb area along Lake Huron, saw a fox along the shore hunting for whatever foxes along the lake eat, had lunch with some awesome peeps, and got home to find out that the gopro footage I thought I had of D-Eagle's special new glove feature is corrupted (I hate GoPro).

We may have missed peak leaf peeping season...

AI for the win....

A Goldwing, an Indian, a Harley, and a Yamaha walk into a bar. The bartender looks them over and says, "I'll serve you, but don't try anything funny."

The Goldwing replies, "Don't worry, I'm just here for the smooth ride."

The Indian chimes in, "Yeah, and I'm looking for a place with some real tradition."

Harley scoffs, "Pfft, I'm here for the loudest laugh."

Yamaha, always the practical one, just says, "I'll take whatever gets me from point A to B fastest."

Rode it to work...64 degrees at 6:30 this morning for my ride in, should be around 80 and sunny for my ride home. Not bad for November 5th on the north coast of Ohio.

(Sunday)

275 miles with my 3 local buddies. It's probably been 6-8 months since we all got together for a ride. All retired - all "too busy", he he he.

I led us on our favorite central LA route. Taco truck in Forest Hill, LA for lunch. Ice cream mid afternoon - ya'll know how Pants rolls.

In the afternoon, I got a bit spirited and wicked it up a bit. Absolutely zero traffic on our favorite roads (everyone at home watching the NOLA Saints lose).

Weather is still warm here (low 80s mid day), but the breeze is a bit drier so we enjoyed ourselves.

I buttoned up some trim panels on my new 2003 and swapped in the R1 shift lever from the old 2003 and adjusted it. Also transferred my quadlock phone mount and then went for the first ride since my accident 4 1/2 weeks ago.

It was dark already and a saw a deer before I got to the end of my street, so I took it real easy.
The bike had been sitting for two years, so the front brakes needed to bed back in a bit. It smelled like it was burning off some barn dust, too.

It has bar risers, stock front springs (assuming), no raising links and it has tires that I am not familiar with. It felt good, but not as "tuned" as the one I wrecked. I will be changing all of that over, as well.

Not sure about the bar risers and highway pegs. I want to give them a fair chance before I remove them.
