Festus congratulations. You are da man! A 6:00am the engine was out and by 6:35 it was in. You missed only one little comment. At 6:20 if this damn strap breaks I am screwed!

Steve, I bet you froze, when you first heard the noise after going into 2nd. I know I did reading it!

It's close enough now to start a countdown....congrats!

Yes, I did! I hope my words conveyed the feeling at the time :)

No need for a countdown.........

Pulls like a beast. Smooth as butter in gear shifts. I think the new rubber on the shift lever is responsible for that.

Video footage by Viper Dad and his trusty sidekick. I have helmet footage but it's a pain the butt to get everything merged together and cut the video into segments worth seeing.

I wonder if this is how Evel Knievel got started?

Steve, the emotions I feel right now are...well...heartfelt. Watching and listening to her going down the road, brought a flood of memories back to me. The trips to NC, TN, VA, KY, WV, AR, and all the states in between, Jolene got me there and back without fail. My eyes did not swell with tears watching it, nope, I stay dry-eyed through the whole thing. < He's lying

II am truly thankful that you have taken Jolene and brought her back to health. I know that she will treat you well, and take you to whatever destination....and back.

Thank you, Steve. Thank you...my new friend.

Great job and even Greater on the complete documentation. I hope I never have to go there but this will be a big help if I do.

I love a happy ending. You did a great job Festus and your documentation will certainly be very useful to those who will follow, and I think many would envy having all the positive help Viper Dad gave you as well.

Today I was as nervous as a new daddy watching his baby being born, and I haven’t put in nearly the hours Festus has. He gave me a heads up that he was going to take Jolene out for her maiden ride but wait... just a few hours earlier she was still in pieces in the garage! After the successful startup the night before, enough parts had been bolted back on to try what we’ve all been waiting for: that full power upshift into second gear. I knew I just HAD to be there to document the event. It really was incredible to see Jolene pull away from us, my daughter had to keep herself from cheering in order to preserve the video! All the credit goes to the determined man who rented the truck, drove thousands of miles, and tackled what most of us would consider a lost cause. LKLD, he has breathed new life into your old girl. The next chapter of her story is certain to be full of touring tales, mischievous motoring, and lots of twisty turns!

Those are great videos!! You should be proud of what accomplished on this!!

This question popped in to my head and just curious of know if it's possible. Since the gears are cut differently and are smoother in a Gen III compared to the Gen II. Can the gears in the Gen III go in to a Gen II, leaving out the sixth gear? If I had to guess I'd say no, I'm assuming the space is different enough so it can't be done.

Well now, this is just turning out to be a great day!!!

I enjoyed the video, especially the very last part where she's shifted into second and the heat is poured on!

Excellent, gentlemen. Damm fine job, well done.

Congrats are in order!!!!! yahooie!

It's very nice of you to fix a 'few glitches' while you were baby sitting Rob's bike. So like when's he coming back to pick her up? ;)

I am guessing that Jolene has already transitioned over into being a North Carolinian, Virginian...or wherever the heck Festus is from. Just a guess. ;)

Yes, she has grown quite accustomed to the 4-season weather in Virginia. I also suspect Rob is doing just fine with his gorgeous new 2016!

Don't even think about it..... Gen2 & 3 up to 2015 5 speeds are all the same. Nothing compelling about going to a 6 speed even if you could and wanted to spend all that money. I'm on another forum where some are complaining about the 6 speed gear whine.... if that's what it is..... I have not compared 5 vs. 6 so I'll reserve judgement until I ride both back to back.

Oh yeah, I'm doing just fine with Janna, my '16.

I showed my wife, Marie, the videos. Tears welled up in her eyes. She's a keeper.
